Coordinates and acts as liaison with area tribal colleges, other educational institutions, and cultural heritage organizations to develop programs to meet their needs, as well as achieve NPS objectives.
Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements cultural training and education programs for Wind Cave National Park and other parks in the Black Hills. Analyzes and evaluates cultural training programs and proposals in regard to the policy and mission of the National Park Service and the Department of the Interior.
Establishes and maintains working relationships between Wind Cave, other parks in the Black Hills, and the broader training and educational community regarding the development and implementation of new cultural training curricula specific to Tribal Nations affiliated with National Parks. Works with relevant knowledge holders, including scientific and historic resource personnel as well as tribal culture-bearers, to develop demonstration and research projects with culturally relevant educational components. Assists with long range planning for the development of interpretive facilities including planning documents, exhibits and trails.
May assist in the negotiation and preparation of cooperative agreements, memoranda of understanding, or other collaborative instruments between the National Park Service and tribal or other cultural heritage organizations as appropriate to achieve culturally relevant training and educational programming are effectively delivered.
Physical Demands: Work is often active and requires walking, bending, stretching, and driving of vehicles. Working with various educational institutions may be physically and intellectually demanding.
Working Conditions: Work will often be conducted in an office setting, but exposure to outdoors will be frequent. Heat, humidity, and hazardous plants and animals represent the environmental factors affecting this position.

A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another.

Wind Cave (WICA) is the sixth longest and one of the most complex caves in the world, with over 165 miles of surveyed passages. Named for barometric winds at its entrance, this maze of passages is home to boxwork, a unique formation rarely found elsewhere. Bison, elk, mule deer, pronghorn, black footed ferrets, prairie dogs, mountain lions, bobcat and coyote inhabit the rolling mixed grass prairie and Ponderosa forests of the hillsides. WICA historically and today, plays an important role in the traditions and culture of many Tribal Nations and is the site of origin for the Lakota people. The park is in the southern Black Hills of southwest South Dakota, approximately 5 ½ hours north of Denver, CO. Medical and dental services, shopping, restaurants, and churches are available in Hot Springs (12 miles) and Custer (20 miles); Rapid City, SD (pop. 60,000) is 60 miles away. Climate extremes range from sub-zero temperatures during winter to over 100 degrees during summer.
