The PTSD-RRTP (SDTP) is one of eight programs accepted into a pilot program for the implementation and expansion of massed Evidence-Based Psychotherapy (EBP) Delivery in PTSD-RRTPs. Core elements of this treatment model include:
- Delivery of individual massed EBP for PTSD a minimum of four times per week.
- Opportunities for Veterans and providers to engage in shared decision-making and availability of EBP treatment options for PTSD.
- Group sessions focused on accountability, reinforcement of rationale, problem-solving assignments, and group exposure/skills practice to support the individual EBP work.
- Ability to individualize additional groups, interventions, and programming for each Veteran based on their unique psychosocial rehabilitation needs.
- Time built into the treatment day for completion of EBP assignments.
- Rolling admissions with variable length of stay (LOS) but anticipated substantially shorter LOS for most Veterans (2-4 weeks). It is expected that longer lengths of stay, if required, would be related to the need for ongoing support for psychosocial needs such as housing or employment with the primary treatment for PTSD being completed during the 2- to 4-week time period.
- Minimal barriers to admission with a focus on accepting those with more complex presentations (e.g., suicidality, co-occurring conditions including but not limited to substance use).
- Integration of required suicide prevention requirements including lethal means training, safety planning (as appropriate), required SAVE training for all Veterans, as well as comprehensive screening and evaluation throughout residential admission as already required by policy.
