This position is open to: AREA I - PERMANENT (tenure 1/ 2) BARGAINING UNIT employees of the MT Army National Guard (MTARNG), AREA II - Traditional members, T32 and T5 employees of the MTARNG who are eligible for military membership (includes Indefinite (tenure 3), NTE (tenure 0) and PERMANENT (Tenure 1/ 2) NON-BARGAINING UNIT employees of the MTARNG & AREA III - Individuals willing and eligible for membership in the MTARNG (i.e. Army Reserve transfers, other States' NG, Active Duty; public).
This job is located in a National Guard maintenance facility, warehouse, training site, supply or support type facility. Its purpose is to oversee one or more product lines, a segment of a large warehouse, or serve as the senior employee in a smaller warehouse or supply facility.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Performs the full range of warehousing activities to include receiving, storing, selecting and shipping general or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment. Develops, or assists in the development of plans for storage and arrangement of stock to determine warehouse configuration, setup, movement, rearrangement and traffic flow. In larger warehouse facilities, the incumbent typically develops storage and space utilization plans in accordance with regulations for a specific commodity or equipment group. In hazardous materials storage areas, incumbent insures the safe receipt, storage, and movement of hazardous and toxic materials and substances such as ammunition, explosives, chemicals, or radioactive materials in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements. In smaller warehouses, the incumbent may serve as the senior nonsupervisory worker of the facility, laying out storage space, establishing item locations, determining organization and arrangement of stock, and identifying high and low usage items. May serve as the senior member of a warehouse project team of material handlers involved in a special project such as relocating a major commodity or equipment group, or setting up a new commodity group area.
May coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials with docking area and scheduling personnel to facilitate movement in accordance with priorities, scheduling requirements, and space allocations. May operate large warehouse perimeter vehicles such as cargo tractors, stake trucks, and jumbo tugs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
