Assists the Superintendenl in managing all activities to insure maximum utilization of personnel, materials, and funds. Communicate effectively across multiple levels of an organization, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with Internal and external organizations. Prepares sensitive and critical correspondence on issues which require careful explanation of policies and regulations governing park operations and NPS concepts.

To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Supervising an organizational unit or a division or program area within a park or similar organization; serving as a park Deputy superintendent; serving as a management or program specialist involving the development and/or implementation of policy related to management of park areas or similar operations; or other similar work. You must include hours per week worked.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Physical Demands: Although the duties are sedentary in nature, working long hours under pressure may be required from time to time in resolving special situations relating to administration of the park. Must travel periodically to each site by walking or other means to inspect operations and facilities for proper administration of the program and to assure adequate public safety standards.

Working Conditions: A combination of indoor/outdoor activity in the nation's biggest and heaviest metropolitan center, New York City. These sites are subject to many socio-economic impacts, not always compatible with service statutory obligations for managing units of the National Park Service.
