As an Enforcement Officer, you will perform the following duties:
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Security Clearance: Critical/Tier 5 Under conditions of employment: The incumbent of this critical sensitive position will be subject to a Tier 5 background investigation and maintain eligibility for a Top-Secret clearance, but local security access will be limited to Secret clearance level.
This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band.
The ZA-02 is equivalent to the GS-07/09. However is only being advertised equivalent to the GS-09 grade level.
The ZA-03 is equivalent to the GS-11/12.

EDUCATION: There is no positive education requirement for this position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (MANDATORY)
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the following selective placement factors in addition to the specialized experience. If you do not meet these requirements, you will be rated ineligible for this position.
Maximum Entry Age: This position is a covered primary law enforcement position under Title 5 U.S.C 3307 Maximum Entry Age, the special retirement provisions for Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO). Candidates without previous LEO service must be under age 37. Those with current or prior federal LEO coverage will be considered only if they can demonstrate that they will have completed 20 years of covered service by mandatory retirement age of 57. To qualify at the ZA-2 (GS-9) grade level:
Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZA-2 (GS-7) in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
