Duties
Psychologist: Substance Use Disorder (SUD)
Provides a full range of diagnostic and evaluation services appropriate to the care setting, especially in the areas of general psychological evaluation of emotional and behavioral problems and focused psychosocial, cognitive, or other assessments; Consistently uses measurement based care to inform treatment planning; Treatment planning and monitoring: Actively engages in treatment planning and clinical care meetings within the SUD programs both with and without Veterans present, to facilitate care planning and collaborative, complex care management and coordination; Facilitates care coordination including warm handoffs for Veterans with complex needs related to SUD who require a variety of addiction, mental health and primary care services at the medical center. Provides comprehensive professional care documentation in the patient record system, adhering with timeliness standards for quality care. Participates in program development, and to aid in the development of processes to integrate clinical care for Veterans with addiction disorders.
Psychologist: Mental Health Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MH RRTP)
Provides a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnoses mental disorders and substance use disorders, particularly for complex patients in the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MH RRTP) and other programs/clinics within MHS, as assigned. Provides education to patients, family members, and significant others. Assesses patients' understanding of advanced directives and other forms of consent and assists staff in determining how to present treatment options and other such material to patients in a format they can understand. Provides comprehensive, time-limited, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy. Provides consultation to professional staff within the Dayton VAMC and to community providers. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients including prompt completion of clinical reminders. Functions independently as a member of the Dayton VAMC Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges.
Psychologist: Mental Health Clinic
Serves as member of a Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Team, meeting as-needed and for daily huddles to provide consultation to team members concerning clinical assessment and guidance and assist in appropriate treatment planning for patients. Functions as a generalist and is competent in the use of measurement-based care and delivery of time-limited, individual evidence-based psychotherapies that are known to be effective across a range of presenting concerns and demographic characteristics. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of therapy patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. Functions independently as a member of the Dayton VAMC Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges. Assumes complete professional responsibility for clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation. Provides services in multiple modalities and platforms, including telehealth and virtual appointments. Collateral clinical duties may be assigned, with the approval of the Mental Health Clinic Program Manager. These may include responsibilities such as completion of psychological assessments or providing services in other MHS program areas.
Psychologist: Pain & Primary Care-Mental Health Integration (PC-MHI)
Serves as Team Member for an inter-professional clinical team, co-located with the Integrative Medicine (IM) and Primary Care medical teams, with an emphasis on integration of mental health services within pain management and primary care. Provides a full range of diagnostic and evaluation services appropriate to the IM setting, especially pertaining to the evaluation and treatment of pain conditions. Provides a full range of diagnostic and evaluation services appropriate to the primary care setting, especially in the areas of general psychological evaluation of emotional and behavioral problems and focused cognitive assessments. Provides a full range of psychological interventions consistent with training and expertise, with special emphasis on brief and evidenced-based interventions found to be effective in IM and primary care settings. Facilitates patient and family education appropriate to the IM (e.g., CBT-CP) and primary care settings and the specific presenting mental or behavioral health issues. Provides consultation services for IM and primary care providers (PCP) to maximize the effectiveness of their interventions in reducing health-risk behaviors and enhancing health promoting behaviors, with a significant emphasis on a prevention-oriented model of care.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (May be negotiated during the interview process)
Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
