This Program Liaison (U.S. Antarctic Program Ombudsperson) position is located in Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics (AIL) Section within the Office of Polar Programs (OPP), Directorate for Geosciences (GEO). The purpose of the position is to serve as the primary resource for all U.S. Antarctic Program (USAP) participants to raise issues, recommend solutions, ask questions, and provide feedback directly to the National Science Foundation about USAP operations.

As a Program Liaison (U.S. Antarctic Program Ombudsperson), you will perform the following duties:
Education may enhance skills required for this position; however, no substitution of education for specialized experience may be made at this level.
Appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a physical examination according to standards used for U.S. Antarctic Program (USAP) medical/dental screening for travel to Antarctica.
Relocation Expenses will not be paid.
This is a non-bargaining unit position.

This vacancy will utilize a multiple hurdle assessment process to determine the qualifications of applicants. The first hurdle will consist of applicants completing an occupational questionnaire related to the major duties and competencies of the position. For the second hurdle, applicants who pass the first hurdle will be contacted to provide a writing sample based on two pre-determined questions. Applicant responses will be reviewed by a Subject Matter Expert (SME) panel for related position competencies against a pre-determined rating schedule. This process will determine the final rating of the applicant for possible referral to the hiring official for hiring consideration.
