MAJOR DUTY STATEMENTS
interpretive services for visitors. Incumbent performs a variety of duties related to the effective interpretation of the park and to the operation of facilities within Canyon de Chelly National Monument. Responsible for daily visitor center operations, welcomes visitors, provides basic orientation to the site and local area, assists with trip planning, responds to questions in person and by telephone, operates park radio, restock supplies, maintain visitor statistics, updates bulletin boards, and assists in the cooperating association sales area. Additional duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay.

Temperatures range from 85 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer and between 15 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter. Limited shopping and medical facilities are available in Chinle, Arizona. Major shopping, medical and dental facilities are available in Gallup, New Mexico; Farmington, New Mexico; and Flagstaff, Arizona.
