**This is an interdisciplinary job. Series assigned to individual positions under this job will be determined based on the selectee's paramount qualifications at the time of selection.**
The Senior Research Scientist (Environmental) position is assigned to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and will conduct state-of-the-art basic and applied research in support of the USACE, Army, and DoD missions in the interactions between physical, chemical, and biological components of the Earth's natural environment and the human impact on the environment. The components of environmental science include energy, vegetated landscapes, soils, water, and atmosphere, necessitating the incumbent possess a broad background in biology, hydrology, limnology, oceanography, water quality, nutrient and contaminant fate/transport, population, community and ecosystem ecology, chemistry, geology, toxicology risk assessment, soil science, climatology, and nature-based solutions. The incumbent leads multidisciplinary teams in planning and conducting research, analyzing and interpreting scientific data, and publishing research results in the peer-reviewed, scientific literature.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.

This position requires a minimum of Graduate Degree, preferably Ph.D.
