This position will be filled under the Office of Personnel Management's Direct Hire Authority and is open to all United States citizens and U.S. nationals. Idaho Fish and Wildlife Office is comprised of three geographically distinct offices located in Boise, Chubbuck, and Coeur d'Alene. These three offices work collaboratively with our federal, state, and private partners to conserve, protect, and enhance listed species in Idaho. The office is responsible for various Ecological Services issues such as contaminants, endangered species conservation, energy projects, migratory birds, and conservation agreements. The incumbents will closely coordinate and work collaboratively with Federal partners (e.g., U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Army Corp of Engineers), State agency partners, Native American tribes, and non-governmental organizations to identify opportunities to conserve and protect Federally listed species.
Duties of the Fireshed position will include:
Conducting section 7 consultations and providing technical assistance to the USDA Forest Service and National Marine Fisheries Service, including developing and revising programmatic consultations; coordinating with the Forest Service across the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests and other forest locations in support of land, water, and fire and fuels management activities.
Duties of the Consultation & Kootenai River White Sturgeon (KRWS) position will include:
This position will focus 70% of its time on general Endangered Species Act section 7 consultations (i.e., more specifically consultations related to KRWS and bull trout). Thirty percent of the job will involve functioning as the KRWS lead and coordinating listing and recovery actions (e.g., writing five-year KRWS reviews, implementing the Recovery Implementation Strategy, coordinating Libby Dam annual flow planning, assisting the regional lead with Columbia River System Operations, collaborating on research projects, reviewing section 10 permit requests).

PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
