The major duties of the Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN) position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Install, maintain, monitor and upgrade Active Directory domain controllers for the National Park Service domain with all the required security, management and monitoring software and agents as required by departmental and bureau policies.
Create and maintain National Park Service active directory infrastructure including Flexible Single Master Operation (FSMO) roles, trusts, Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDCs), replication topology etc.
Create, maintain, and improve group policy objects (GPOs) to ensure authorized access, at appropriate levels, to National Park Service(NPS) information technology assets using only Department of Interior (DOI) and NPS official multi factor authentication mechanism.
Use power PowerShell task automation and configuration management framework to automate daily tasks and reports to facilitate management of the National Park Service Active Directory domain.
Support National Park Service regional, park, and program Organizational Unit (OU) administrators with requests and issues related to directory replication, synchronization, netlogon, time services, Flexible Single Master Operation (FSMO) roles, schema, domain name system (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Service Record (SRV) records and trust relationships.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/24/2022-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To qualify for the Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN) position, you must meet the following basic requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
BASIC REQUIREMENT:

EDUCATION:
- A degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
- OR
- A degree that provides a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

EXPERIENCE: IT-related experience demonstrating each of these four competencies:

To qualify for the Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN) position at the GS-13 grade level, you must also meet the following specialized experience requirement by the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sector), which includes ALL of the following: 1) Engineer and manage Active Directory in a multi-domain enterprise environment; 2) Use PowerShell scripting to automate tasks associated with managing Active Directory; 3) Utilize certificate based authentication and the underlying Public Key Infrastructure (PKI); 4) Design and implement a managed Group Policy Object (GPO) architecture, including setting up a security delegation process to approve requests. You must include your resume with hours worked per week annotated.

You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". Experience listed as full-time will be credited at 40 hours per week.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To meet basic requirement based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.
