Develop strategies that ensure the Economic Development Administration's successes are told to the American people and other key stakeholders.
Serve as the first point of contact for economic, business, and other industry media.
Manage the logistics related to interviews (both on-camera or written) including, graphics, b-roll development, and delivery to outlets, talking points, scheduling, etc.
Develop and execute a regular media training and spokesperson program for senior leaders of the EDA.
Develop, manage and continuously update a speakers list of SMEs within the EDA and the Department of Commerce who are available for media engagements and well-versed in EDA's mission, activities, and successes.
Stay up-to-date on the latest media stories and trends that may impact the EDA and regularly brief leaders on the media landscape.
Proactively identify opportunities to insert the EDA in the media.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-12 grade level you must have one full year of specialized experience. You must possess 52 weeks of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11. For this position, specialized experience includes:
Serve as the day-to-day manager of all national/ tier-one media relations activities and manage the planning, evaluation, and reporting of all related activities.
Prepare and track media and event budgets and ensure adherence.
There is no educational requirements for this position.
Background Investigation: This position is designated as Non-sensitive/Low Risk and requires that a background investigation be conducted and favorably adjudicated in order to establish security eligibility.
Please note this position is being filled under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)t. Employees will be hired under EDA's CARES Hiring Authority as a Schedule A employee under the Excepted Service for a period not-to-exceed two (2) years.
The salary is contingent upon the official duty location and a determination will be made based on individual selections.
