Leadville National Fish Hatchery (Leadville CO): This position will function as a hatchery technician with responsibility for daily fish and toad culture activities. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: feeding, cleaning, chemical treatments, biological sampling, spawning, insect care, stocking facilitation, grounds maintenance, facilities repair/maintenance, light plumbing, light wood work, outreach and miscellaneous field work as need arises.
Lower Great Lakes Fish & Wildlife Conservation Office (Williamstown WV): This position supports field and laboratory assessment needs associated with the Ohio River Basin invasive carp program. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: participating in field surveys addressing invasive carp expansion into the upper Ohio River Basin, data collection/entry/processing, and maintenance of vessels, vehicles, and gear.
Uvalde National Fish Hatchery (Uvalde TX): This position will assist with field collection, daily upkeep, and maintenance of nine species at the Uvalde National Fish Hatchery (NFH). Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: maintaining experimental and culture production systems, routine modifications to aquatic holding systems, assisting with organization and execution of species collections, health assessments and treatment, quality assurance and control of data, and reporting.
Red Bluff Fish & Wildlife Office (Red Bluff CA): These positions are for the Mainstem Operations' Program performing rotary trapping, seasonal green sturgeon research, and monitoring and acoustic telemetry array maintenance. Up to 95% of work is in the field sampling by rotary-screw trap or benthic trawl for Federally-listed threatened and endangered fish species native to the Mainstem Sacramento River, and maintaining an extensive acoustic telemetry array covering ~200 rkm. Additional duties may include data entry and equipment interrogation/maintenance. Field work involves operation of inboard and outboard jet boats under various environmental conditions.
Red Bluff Fish & Wildlife Office (Anderson CA): These positions are located at the Coleman National Fish Hatchery monitoring projects on tributaries of the Sacramento River, Clear Creek, and Battle Creek. Work focuses on monitoring populations of federally-listed salmonids and their habitats in response to restoration actions in both watersheds. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: dam removal, instream flow management, fish barrier modification or removal, gravel augmentation, and floodway rehabilitation projects, as well as gear maintenance and office work (data entry, data QA/QC and data summarization). Monitoring efforts include snorkel and kayak surveys, walking surveys, video reading, rotary-screw trapping, and physical habitat evaluation surveys.
PROOF OF EDUCATION: All applicants who are using education or a combination of education and experience to qualify must submit copies of official or unofficial transcripts which include grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, institution name, and student name. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
