This position serves as the Deputy Associate Administrator (DAA), Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs. The DAA reports to the Associate Administrator for Legislative Affairs and shares responsibility providing executive leadership, direction, and coordination of all communications and relationships between NASA and the Congress. The DAA fulfills the responsibilities of the Associate Administrator in the absence of the latter.

This position reports to the Associate Administrator for Legislative Affairs. The Deputy Associate Administrator for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs:
- Manages critical agency interests and provides strategic advice and planning to the Associate
Administrator for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs as well as the Administrator and other NASA officials, concerning the Administration's management agenda and agency legislative activity.
- Provides management oversight of the Legislative Liaison, Policy Advisor and Industry Relations, Outreach and Intergovernmental Affairs and Legislative Reference and Analysis Divisions.
- Maximizes Congressional support for NASA Authorization bills and ensures the NASA
Administrator, Deputy Administrator, and other senior NASA officials are prepared for Congressional
hearings and appearances. Monitors and, to the extent possible, assists in the passage of legislation significant to NASA through Congress.
- Assists Members of Congress and Congressional Committees in securing appropriate information
or assistance, including making arrangements for Members and staff visits to NASA installations and
replying to their inquiries and requests. Coordinates such replies within NASA and with other
elements of the Executive Branch of the Government, as appropriate.
- Establishes policies for, and oversees the operation and management of the Office of Legislative
and Intergovernmental Affairs.
