This vacancy is open to those covered by the indicated hiring paths and living in the local, Oakland, CA commuting area. Veterans eligible under the Veterans Employment Opportunity Act (VEOA) and current permanent VBA employees holding the GS-9/11 or higher and seeking non-competitive reassignment/change to lower grade need not to live in the local commuting area to be considered.
This position serves as a Staff Assistant in the Director's Office of the Regional Office, Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA). The position requires the performance of a variety of program-related assignments. The incumbent reviews plans, analyzes and develops program requirements, establishes and revises operating procedures, reviews operations, and provides technical assistance.
Specific duties include:
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to be credited towards qualifications. Provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
