As the Physical Scientist for Carlsbad Caverns National Park, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise, data, and recommendations on a wide range of physical sciences, including cave management, geology, hydrology, air quality, and paleontology. This position reports to the Chief of Natural and Cultural Resource and works closely with the Cultural Resource Program Manager and the Park Biologist positions. Duties will include developing programs, budgets, agreements, and contracts. Incumbent will set and adjust short-term priorities and coordinate schedules for completion of work with a team or work group. You will develop and maintain liaisons and effective working relationships with related groups and individuals, adjacent landowners, agencies, and the public to encourage and facilitate cooperative resource management strategies and projects. You will complete ESF and NEPA documentation for all park projects within PEPC and conduct MRA's, GAR's, and SPE's before projects begin. Incumbent will prepare, organize, and manage data dictionaries, Geographic Information System (GIS) databases, and cave inventory data. You will use ArcGIS, COMPASS, Adobe products, and related software, to collect, analyze, and manage data. You will use equipment and sensors to collect and analyze monitoring data, including: Radon, CO2, temperature, relative humidity, pressure, and acoustic data. Finally, you will manage volunteers cave survey projects, cave map production, and enter and error check cave survey and inventory data.

Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
