As an Auditor (Recent Graduate), the incumbent performs the following responsibilities:

Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is designated as a Public Trust Position. If selected, you will be required to complete OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, to determine if a conflict or an appearance of a conflict exists between your financial interest and your prospective position with GSA OIG.
To qualify for the Recent Graduate position, applicants must meet both the MANDATORY EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR BOTH RECENT GRADUATE AND AUDITOR. An applicant must also meet the specialized experience and/or education substitution for Auditor (Recent Graduate).
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR RECENT GRADUATE (MANDATORY):
To qualify as a Recent Graduate, you must have obtained a qualifying associates, bachelors, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, within the previous 2 years or other applicable period provided below. You may apply for the Recent Graduate position only if your application is received not later than 2 years after the date you have completed all requirements of an academic course of study leading to a qualifying associates, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.
Veterans, who were precluded from applying within the 2 year period, because of active duty service, may have an additional 2 year period of eligibility upon release and/or discharge - not to exceed 6 years from the date on which the veteran completed the requirements of the academic course of study.
Specialized experience:
At the GS-7 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
To qualify for the GS-0511-07 Level, a candidate must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-0511-05 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has prepared the applicant with specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position is experience obtaining, verifying, and summarization auditing documentation applying professional auditing principles, practices and skills; and, ensuring accuracy and liability.
At the GS-09 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
To qualify for the GS-0511-09 level, a candidate must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-0511-07 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has prepared the applicant with specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized Experience for this position is experience assisting in the conduct of financial and performance audits applying the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS); assisting in conducting complicated audits, performing work consisting of systemic evaluations, conducting activities relating to the detection of fraud and waste, and/or assisting in conducting performance and/or contract audits.
At the GS-11 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
To qualify for the GS-0511-11 level, a candidate must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-0511-09 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is work involving the identification and review of program data and comparing it to regulations, policies, procedures or other program criteria; and experience performing reviews in accordance with auditing standards. Independently conducting broad financial and performance audit assignments.
Education substitution GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in accounting or a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR
Combination of education and experience. Note: Only graduate education in excess of two years is creditable.
Education Requirements:
Basic Education Requirements: Degree: Accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor."); OR
Combination of education and experience: At least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
