Help

Coordinates the implementation of College and Career Readiness Standards.
Coordinates medically related services and other services for low incidence populations.
Reports on the status of program implementation, monitoring, review, and evaluation to the DoDEA special education program manager.
Provides expert advice and consultation to various groups in special education.
Provides guidance to schools and district personnel regarding special education policies and federal legislation for student with disabilities.
Acts as a Contract Representative to oversee contract fulfillment. This requires collaboration with procurement to manage contracts. Contract Representatives must take training prior to being approved.
Works collaboratively with district ISS's in ensuring all students have access to the general education curriculum and programs.
Reviews multiple sources of data to identify trends and make recommendations for areas of improvement.
Identifies training needs.
Develops and delivers ongoing professional development for multiple stakeholders to include parents, educators and administrators
Informs annual budget for special education.
Monitors the quality of program services to ensure compliance with regulations, policies and effective teaching practices
Reviews special education staffing for schools and coordinates with the headquarter special education program manager.

You will be required to sign a mobility agreement, be available for worldwide placement, and be willing to rotate to any DoDDS or DDESS location.
The incumbent may be required to travel by military and/or commercial aircraft, land, or sea transportation to a variety of stateside and/or overseas locations for meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Minimum Education Requirement: A Master's degree in the field of Special Education or Education. A Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology is also acceptable. The course work must have been completed at or accepted by a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. The undergraduate/graduate course work must have included study in at least three of the following five areas:
1. Learning theory, psychology of/earning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material.
2. Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness.
3. Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments.
4. Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training.
5. Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training.

Specialized Experience Requirement (5 years): Specialized experience is special education experience gained in teaching, educational research, development of educational materials and aids, educational testing, educational administration, or comparable activities in an elementary and/or secondary school which has clearly demonstrated success in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of education and familiarity with current developments in PreK-12th grade education and training. This experience must have been in special education.

Professional Licensure/Certification Requirement: Applicants must be currently certified or certifiable under the current DoDEA standards as Teacher, Severely Learning Impaired/Multiple Disabilities (categories 0416, 0417 or 0418); Teacher, Physically Impaired (category 0419); Teacher, Mildly to Moderately Learning Impaired (categories 0420, 0421 or 0422); Teacher, Moderately to Severely Learning Impaired (categories 0423, 0424 or 0425); Teacher, Emotionally Impaired (category 0426, 0427 or 0428); Teacher, Preschool Children with Disabilities ( category 0429); Teacher, Hearing Impaired (category 0470); Teacher, Visually Impaired (category0471); or Teacher, Speech/Language Pathology (category 0472).
