This position is with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) Region 3, Division of Refuges, located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area in Minnesota. The role of the regional office is to provide support to the employees and offices/field stations within Region 3, which includes Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. This position is with the Midwest region of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and involves working with private landowners and partners to accomplish habitat restoration projects throughout a regional landscape.
As a Biological Sciences Student Trainee, your duties will include, but are not limited to the following: The incumbent participates in varied duties related to private land activities. Duties may include: Reviewing sites on private property for potential wetland restoration activity or native prairie restoration activity.
PROOF OF EDUCATION: All applicants who are using education or a combination of education and experience to qualify must submit copies of your official or unofficial transcripts which include grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, institution name, and student name. If any required coursework is not easily recognizable on transcripts, or if you believe a portion of a particular course can be credited toward meeting an educational requirement, you must also provide a memorandum on letterhead from the institution's registrar, dean, or other appropriate official stating the percentage of the course that should be considered to meet the requirement and the equivalent number of units. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable; however, if you are selected for the position, you will be required to produce the original official transcripts.
These are development positions. The applicant should expect the work being performed outside and some of the work will be physically challenging field work in natural resource setting.
WORK SCHEDULE: The position requires the selectee to work a full-time work schedule if they are not attending school. The student may be able to working part-time during the school year, if funding is available, approval from the unit supervisor and school schedule/course load.

GS-4: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
GS-5: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
