This position serves as a uniformed Police Officer assigned to the Milwaukee VA Medical Center, Milwaukee WI, appointed as a law enforcement official under Title 38 of the United States Code. Section 1.218, authorized to carry firearms and make arrests.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
-Performs preliminary investigations of crimes perpetrated to include felonies, misdemeanors, petty offenses and violations of regulations.
-Responds to reports of crimes in progress and protects/secures crime scenes and preserves evidence found.
-Conducts legal investigations and performs legal interrogations of alleged offenders.
-Physically subdues and restrains combative, violet, mentally ill or suicidal patients, employees and/or visitors.
-Prepares comprehensive reports based on statements from victims, witnesses and/or complainants necessary to place valid charges and to assist in prosecution.
-Performs vehicular and foot patrols I order to regulate and control vehicular traffic during adverse weather or emergency conditions.
-Responds to medical emergencies, fire intrusion, panic and disaster alarms.
-Manages information security within areas of responsibility to assure that computer system security and confidentiality of sensitive information is maintained.
-Enforces full range of Federal, state, county, and municipal rules and regulations.
