Cyber Intelligence, a critical component of the agency's congressionally mandated cyber security program, is an integral part of SSA's overarching IT business and is essential to maintaining our position of trust, as America's oldest and most successful social insurance program. The Office of Systems and the Office of Information Security within the Office of Systems/CIO manages and implements the agency-wide cyber security program including development and promulgation of policy and procedures; monitoring compliance across the agency's operating units; overseeing operating unit IT security programs; and management of cyber-related Incidence Responses. Cyber Intelligence provides information critical to every single component within the SSA cyber security program construct.
The incumbent of this position serves as the SSA Executive Advisor for Cyber Intelligence and key expert responsible for applying highly technical expertise to various cyber challenges and providing the design and implementation of SSA's Cyber Intelligence strategy, engineering and policy solutions that comports with the applicable statutes, Administration policies and guidance, and align to the broader cyber security objectives. In this role, the incumbent is responsible for instilling and maintaining a culture that works toward the highest standards in Cyber Intelligence, while ensuring that agency business requirements are understood and adhered to and security risks are properly understood and mitigated.
The Executive Advisor for Cyber Intelligence is directly responsible for Cyber Intelligence activities for SSA, and reports directly to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of OIS. His/her primary responsibilities are to provide expertise in the following areas:
The 2210 IT Management Series has an Individual Occupational Requirement. Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies:

(4) Problem Solving - conducting extensive investigation and analysis to determine the nature and scope of problems and devising solutions.
(1) This position is a Senior Level position in the federal government. Senior Level employees are in non-executive positions whose duties are broad and complex enough to be classified above GS-15 level. Senior level positions involve highly specialized and complex work.
(2) The selectee for this position will be subject to an appropriate security investigation, including fingerprinting and periodic future reinvestigation(s).
(3) Veteran's preference applies to this SL position.
(4) This position is covered under the post-employment restrictions of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (PL 95-521). This law also requires the selectee to file an Executive Personnel Financial Disclosure Report (Standard Form 278) within 30 days of appointment.
(5) Selectee may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
