These positions are located with Coos Bay District, Bureau of Land Management in North Bend, Oregon.
The incumbents help ensure that the Coos Bay District is in compliance with USFWS survey requirements. The positions work closely with contractors through the season to address emerging questions and ensure the Northern Spotted Owl and GEOBob corporate database while managing wildlife observational attributes and locations. This includes population, habitat, positive and negative surveys and accurate voucher data. The incumbents would also support the wildlife program such as bat and other sensitive species monitoring, winter bird surveys, habitat improvement projects and wildlife restoration efforts.
Physical Demands: Work requires some physical exertion such as bending and walking in terrain that is rough, rocky, mountainous and densely vegetated. Required to lift and carry equipment necessary to efficiently perform the work of the position, and to provide for personal comfort and safety. This can include tools, personal protective equipment, food and water for extended periods of work away from vehicles.
Work Environment: Office work is performed in an adequately lighted, ventilated, cooled and heated area. Fieldwork is often performed at night. During fieldwork incumbent is subject to cuts and bruises, extreme and adverse weather conditions, and injuries and discomforts from pests and animals. Employee will adhere to all safety rules.

Specialized Experience Requirements: One (1) year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level. One (1) full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position.
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled, GS-06. Examples: Research, compile, and tabulate a full range of wildlife inventory data including but not limited to population reproducing performance, food habits, prey densities, and habitat distribution; analyzes findings and proposes project need in line with previous or ongoing efforts. Perform the full range of a variety of technical duties in support of wildlife programs. Serves as crewmember and occasionally crew lead for specific projects.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
