As a Physical Scientist, you will:
You must have one year of specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, that is typically in or directly related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, comparable pay band system or volunteer service.Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Examples of Specialized Experience: professional knowledge conducting field investigations and topical oversight studies; team leader for interdisciplinary teams writing environmental documents; prepare annual evaluation reports and performance agreements; lead teams to conduct research analysis of State Regulatory programs, perform reviews and field verification of abandoned mined land reclamation projects; resolve conflicts; and experience with word processing software, spreadsheets or databases.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
