TM is organized according to subject areas, and Attorney-Advisers work on a variety of matters within a particular office's jurisdiction. The Office of Clearance and Settlement supports TM's oversight and management of the national clearance and settlement system, including registered clearing agencies, security-based swap data repositories, financial market infrastructures, transfer agents, and others. Attorney-Advisers have the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping important legal and policy decisions that pertain to the national clearance and settlement system, national securities markets, and certain securities market participants.
Typical duties Include:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must also meet the minimum qualification requirement.
SK-13: Applicant must possess at least two years of post J.D. experience as a practicing attorney, which also includes at least one year of specialized experience: (1) interpreting, applying, and explaining the provision of the laws, rules, and regulations that govern the securities industry, in particular, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934; (2) collaborating on the evaluation of legal and policy issues, addressing securities law, analyzing and explaining the application of legal principles and precedents; and (3) collaborating on developing and justifying recommendations or conclusions as it pertains to securities law.FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
