Generalist and integrated mental health services are provided at the Truman VA and each CBOC, with specialized mental health services offered at the Truman VA, to include programming to support treatment for PTSD, substance abuse, Severe Mental Illness (SMI), and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (homeless and supported employment services). A total of 92 direct and indirect FTE support both outpatient and inpatient services, with Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Readjustment Counselors, and Licensed Marital and Family Therapists providing multidisciplinary and collaborative treatment interventions based on the Recovery model and empirically supported protocols. Inpatient services are provided within a 12 bed acute psychiatric unit where Veterans receive treatment from Psychiatry, Nursing, Psychology, and Social Work. A 24-bed lodger unit provides accommodations for Veterans participating in intensive outpatient treatment programming, to include treatment for substance abuse, PTSD, SMI (through our Personal Rehabilitation and Recovery Center), and CWT.
The incumbent is a licensed clinical Social Worker assigned to the Acute Psychiatric Unit (APCU) within the BHRT team to independently provide clinical psychosocial and case management services at an advanced practice level to eligible Veterans and their family members to meet biological, psychological, social, and environmental needs. Their health care, psychosocial problems and needs are complex and require a high degree of clinical oversight and creative problem solving. Assists in the planning, development, and delivery of education, referral, and individual and group therapy to patients being treated on the APCU. This position serves as a resource to other members of the Behavioral Health multi -disciplinary team and other healthcare providers within the Medical Center. The incumbent is required to interact not only with the patient and family, but also significant others, community agencies, and other staff.
