The duties are primarily staffing and providing support for the Mississippi River Visitor Center and Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam visitor center. Duties include: providing informal interpretation in park visitor centers about Mississippi National River and Recreation Area and the rest of the National Park Service. Presents interpretive programs that involve biking, canoeing, and formal talks. Conducts formal education programs for K-12 school groups. Directs or responds to visitor request from email, letter or telephone; maintains inventory of brochures. Maintains the park's website by keeping calendars and pages up to date. Provides support for park programs by using computers to design and publish promotional materials.
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

Physical Demands: The work requires standing for long periods of time, walking for long distances, climbing and descending steep inclines, bending, and lifting moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts, occasional emergency responses, and repetitive nature of interpretive programs.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors resulting in exposure to a variety of weather conditions.
