GS-07: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: Under close supervision, using and applying extensive practical knowledge of biological science of research conducted to layout, schedule, organize, and execute the details of either: (1) a wide variety of types of limited operational projects; and/or (2) one-at-a-time (and often long range) multi-phased projects, at least some of which have nonstandard technical problems that must be coordinated with others. Must also have experience in field research working with insects and/or plants and a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience or coursework using GIS and R and with rearing organisms (insects or plants) is preferred but not required.
OR Substitution of Education: Successful completion of at least one (1) full year of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university in a field directly related to the work of the position such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. You must include transcripts.
OR Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond six (6) months (9 semester hours) by 18. Then take the number of months of full time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: Only graduate education in excess of the first six (6) months (9 semester hours) is creditable toward meeting the experience requirement when combining experience and education.) You must include transcripts. Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
