Duties

Help

The incumbent will develop statistical algorithms and associated software for the analysis of data from mass spectrometry experiments in order to extract consensus spectra for the inclusion in standard reference libraries.  S/he will develop C++ code that integrates into existing software developed in the Mass Spectrometry Data Center Group using statistical data analysis, computer programming, and computer graphics.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  1. Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.

or

  1. Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

IN ADDITION:  To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level (or ZP-II at NIST).  Specialized experience is defined as experience in mass spectral data analysis.

OR

Master’s or equivalent graduate degree

NOTE: Education and experience may be combined for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.

Education

A one to three year probationary period may be required.
