This position is being filled through the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Government-wide Direct-Hire Authority for this occupation and is open to all U.S. Citizens and Nationals. Since the Direct-Hire Recruitment Authority is being used, traditional Veterans' Preference rules do not apply. Qualified Veterans will, however, be given full consideration for this position.

To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 in Federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as experience ensuring that IT security controls are implemented to meet federally mandated requirements; experience working with Federal laws, regulations, policies, directives, and guidelines; and experience preparing and delivering IT security presentations to management.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies:

3. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The qualifications will be based on the applicant’s level of knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) in the following areas:
KSA 1: Knowledge of IT concepts, principles, methods and practices necessary to provide guidance and advice to managers and employees on a wide range of complex IT issues.
KSA 2: Skill in applying IT security principles, methods, products, systems security regulations and policies; and communications techniques sufficient to evaluate and recommend the use of IT security tools, procedures, and practices to protect information assets.
KSA 3: Ability to evaluate new information technologies and emerging industry trends to make recommendations to enhance the delivery of IT services.
KSA 4: Ability to communicate in a variety of settings both orally and in writing.
