Assisting with the rotation of stock and checking dates on food products;
Placing food and non-food items on patient trays according to tray tickets;
Checking food temperatures;
Sweeping and mopping floors in the kitchen and designated work areas;
Delivering meals to patients, nursing stations, patient bedsides, or storage areas;
Washing and sanitizing dishes, pans, and silverware;
Assembling, loading, and operating the dish machine;
Scrubbing, soaking, and scouring cooking utensils, mixing bowls, and pots and pans;
Sanitizing the dish washing area;
Collecting and transferring trash from the work area to the disposal area;
Using proper cleaning solutions to sanitize surfaces throughout the kitchen area;
Safeguarding food against spoilage and waste;
Washing floors, walls, walk-in coolers and freezers, etc.;
Preparing and portioning individual and bulk supplemental nourishment;
Assembling, measuring, weighing or mixing ingredients;
Using portion control scales and measuring devices to portion items according to standardized recipes;
Following proper food handling guidelines;
Utilizing equipment such as microwaves, ovens, refrigerators, steam tables, etc.;
Preparing sandwiches, toasting bread, and portioning juice, coffee, and canned fruits;
Assisting with the training of new employees;
Providing excellent customer service and
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week with rotating days, weekends, and holidays. Days off will vary.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
