This positon is assigned to the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, Renewable Product Technology Research Unit in Peoria, Illinois. The incumbent will conduct research to isolate and characterize bacteriophage as a genetic source of antimicrobial enzymes; clone, express, isolate, and characterize the antimicrobial activity of the enzymes; and evaluate potential of the enzymes for resolving problematic infections that impact agriculture and industrial processing.

This position requires a recent Ph.D. (within the last 4 years) in molecular biology, microbiology, or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilites of the position.
Experience with isolation and identification of bacteriophage is desired.
