Conducts non-native invasive plant control activities and projects;
Implements contract scopes of work and serves as a contracting officer's representative to oversee contractors;
Provides direction on wildlife habitat restoration;
Purchases and maintains equipment and expendable supplies such as herbicides;
Operates equipment, four-wheel drive vehicles, ATVs, and UTVs;
Uses, and directs others, on the use of hand tools, weed whackers, mowers, sprayers, and herbicides to remove and treat identified invasive plant species;

Oversees preparation of project, annual, and long-range work plans and prescriptions for inventory and monitoring of weed populations, and for weed control;
Serves as a principal advisor in the management of non-native invasive plants on uplands and wetlands;
Assists with the identification of non-native plants and helps establish inventory and monitoring programs using global positioning systems, geographic information systems, and other appropriate techniques;
Advises on the requirements for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

BASIC REQUIREMENT
A. Successful completion of a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline closely related to fish and wildlife biology; OR
B. An appropriate combination of education and experience that included course work equivalent to a major (i.e. 24 semester/36 quarter hours or school equivalent) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline closely related to fish and wildlife biology; PLUS appropriate experience or additional appropriate course work. The combination of education and experience must equal 100% of the basic requirement. The quality of combined education and experience must sufficiently demonstrate possession of the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.

You may qualify at the GS-07 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements:
A. Completion of a four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in a field of study that demonstrates the competencies required by this position with either (1) a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale; (2) a 3.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale for all required courses completed in a qualifying major field of study at either the time of application or during the last two years of your undergraduate curriculum; (3) class standing of upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or a major subdivision of the college; or, (4) membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society certified by the Association of College Honor Societies, excluding freshman honor societies; OR
B. One full year of graduate level education in an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in a discipline directly related to fish and wildlife biology. The education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position; OR
C. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service that demonstrates your ability to: 1) Collect data to carry out less complex studies or portions of larger investigations to assist higher graded biologists in order to implement various habitat management treatments related to invasive plant species for wildlife resources of an area; 2) Collect, analyze, and assess wildlife habitat and invasive plant species data; AND 3) Assist in implementing laws (Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act), regulations, and policies involving invasive species and use of pesticides; OR
D. A combination of education and experience as listed above that equals 100% of the additional qualifications requirement.
You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service that demonstrates your ability to: 1) Conduct investigations of moderate complexity to implement various habitat management treatments related to invasive plant species for wildlife resources of an area; 2) Assist in developing comprehensive wildlife management plans related to the control of invasive plant species; 3) Assist in preparing and reviewing biological implications of environmental assessment/impact statements or comprehensive resource planning reports to evaluate environmental consequences of proposed actions; AND 4) Understand and implement federal or state environmental laws (i.e., Endangered Species Act, specifically Sections 7 and 10; Clean Water Act; Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act; National Environmental Policy Act, Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act), regulations, and polices involving invasive plant species issues and use of pesticides; OR
B. A master's or equivalent graduate degree in an accredited or pre-accredited college or university or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or possession of a LL.B. or J.D degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position in a discipline directly related to fish and wildlife biology; OR
C.A combination of education and experience as listed above that equals 100% of the additional qualifications requirement.

Promotion Potential: This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed represent the full performance level of GS-09.
