The Deputy Director for Operations serves under the general administrative direction of the Presidentially-appointed Director, BLM and shares both coordinative and directive responsibility for all technical and administrative operations. S/he is responsible for the translation, application, support, and defense of the Director's policies and support of the administrations and the Secretary's policy priorities in the daily operations of BLM functions and activities. Acting with full delegated powers and authority, in accordance with Departmental orders and pertinent regulations, the Deputy Director provides leadership in the implementation of management policies and guidelines formulated by (or with the approval of) the Bureau Director. S/he provides overall policy direction for the Bureau's national-level, multi-use land management programs, operations, and activities; and provides executive-level oversight and supervision to the BLM's SES State and Assistant Directors. These responsibilities require competency in the fields of administration and management.

Senior Executive Service Probationary Period: If you are selected for this position, you will be required to serve a one year SES probationary period, if one has not previously been completed. Frequent travel may be required.
