About the Position:
The Center for Strategic Leadership at the U.S. Army War College (USAWC) seeks a Professor of Strategic Futures. This is a full-time civilian faculty position USAWC as provided under Title 10 USC 4021. Initial appointment will be three years, with the first two years probationary. The appointment may be renewed in one- to five-year increments thereafter. Salary will be based on the selectee's academic credentials, experience, and professional accomplishments.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be rated based on the criteria listed below:
1. Graduate degree in futures studies, strategic foresight, strategic innovation, political science, national or international security studies, strategic intelligence, government, economics, or other fields strongly related to strategic futures and national security. Preference will be given to candidates with an earned doctorate.
2. Record of research publications on key national security issues, with an emphasis on global trends, the future operational environment, informational, social, technological, political and economic long-term outlooks and the resultant future strategic implications for national security.
3. Experience in developing and educating students at the graduate level.
4. Demonstrated ability to influence policy at the strategic level through research, publication, and presentation.
5. Experience in participating in and leading a strategic futures community of practice.
6. Demonstrated skill at presenting research and analysis to senior leaders and officials, including the ability to engage senior leaders in specific research-based discussion and provide sound recommendations concerning strategic futures and the implications for national security.
7. Depth and breadth of professional service inside and outside the candidate's organization, specifically at the national level.
8. Active involvement in professional networks relevant to strategic futures.
