As Congressional Liaison, you work closely with and assist the Director of Congressional Affairs to ensure effective and responsive Congressional relations to representatives of Congress.
The individual selected for this position monitors legislative activities, analyzes and interprets legislative text, conducts legislative research and provides analysis and comments on legislation that have an impact on BBG.

As Congressional Liaison, you are a key colleague within the Office of Congressional Affairs. Essential functions include:
Creates opportunity for Congressional engagements by contacting Congressional offices and arranges meetings, briefings and conferences on various topics. Maintains relationships (with pre-existing contacts) and builds new relationships.
Disseminates information about key activities and news stories of the BBG, VOA, and other BBG program areas to Congressional offices.
Researches, analyzes, and evaluates current legislation and legislative proposals and supports the agency's legislative agenda and appropriations requests to Congress. Provides feedback on projects of this nature to assist the Director in responding to the CEO and congressional entities.
Creates materials and documents in support of Congressional relations efforts, and maintains databases of contacts and other items related to the scope of the Congressional affairs office.
Prepares briefing papers and accompanies the BBG CEO or Director of the Office to meetings with Members of Congress, when requested.
Attends and monitors Congressional hearings and assists in all aspects of preparation for that hearing by preparing draft documents of pertinent information and data to assist in the report to Congress. Provides research on various topics depending on the subject to be investigated.
Education may be substituted as define under the Qualifications Statement at the GS-9 and GS-11 levels. If qualifying based on education; transcripts are required at the time of application.

3. If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/59 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency.
4. If selected, you will be subject to a security investigation to establish your suitability for federal employment. The security investigation will include, among other aspects, a review of your credit and legal history.
