This position is located within the Office of Innovation (V), Digital Engagement Division (VE), Web and Social Media Branch (VES). The Office of Innovation is responsible for the Digital Strategy efforts, including the National Archives Catalog and online access and engagement efforts. This position serves as an Information Technology Specialist (Backend Developer), providing expert level technical support for web operations and platform (Drupal) development for the agency's websites, including Archives.gov.

As a/an IT Specialist (Backend Developer), GS-2210-13, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
The major duties of this position are Drupal development, web administration, and serving as expert technical liaison.
You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:
GS-13- Candidates must have had one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position as described above, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
Examples of specialized experience for this grade level include: mastery of web site development and management using the Drupal WCMS; ability to effectively use PHP, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, and jQuery in the development, design, assessment and testing, maintenance, and management of websites; knowledge of Drupal core and contributed modules, module integration, and custom theme development; expertise in running major information technology projects, particularly web projects; expertise in collecting, documenting, and analyzing user requirements for information technology systems or web development; expert knowledge of current trends endorsed by the World Wide Web Consortium and by web usability experts, and applicable Federal laws and guidelines on privacy, the electronic dissemination of information, and web site accessibility requirements; and the ability to present technical concepts effectively to persons without a technical background.
