This position is in the Office of Investigations (OI), in OIG/HHS. The mission of OI is to conduct and coordinate investigative activities related to fraud, waste and abuse in HHS programs and operations, including wrongdoing by applicants, grantees, contractors, or by employees in the performance of their official duties.
This position is for current students enrolled in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
This is an excepted service, developmental appointment under the OIG Pathways Internship Program. After the Intern successfully completes the developmental program and meets the OPM Qualification Standards for an Administrative Support Specialist, OIG may non-competitively convert the Intern to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service.
Note: Conversion is not guaranteed and is based on the needs of OIG. At the agency's discretion, this position may allow for promotion eligibility. Upon conversion, the Administrative Support Specialist GS-343 has promotion potential to the GS-12 grade level. This position may have flexibility for a full-time work schedule.

The primary responsibility of a Student Trainee (Administrative Support) is to continue learning and gaining experience as it relates to administrative functions within a Federal Agency through job and classroom training.
The student will perform limited administrative support assignments that are developmental and recurring in nature including functions such as the following at the GS-4 grade level:
Foreign Education: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
