Assists Marketing Director in planning, initiating, coordinating and implementation of a comprehensive marketing program for MCCS. Supports the goals and objectives of the Marketing Branch and assists Marketing Director with development of professional and marketable information applicable to a diversified range of media and markets. Provides strategic guidance and recommendations for all MCCS Divisions to build branding of the organization and to increase market share and program participation. Develops strategic business opportunities through collaboration and communication between all MCCS departments and supports public relations activities for departments.
Responsible for planning, organizing and executing MCCS community wide special events and assists MCCS departments with activity level event coordination. Performs a variety of administrative duties in the initiation and development of special event programs including the preparation of written briefs, decision papers, letters of instruction (LOI), budgets, and periodic reports for analysis and review.
Assists with market research to obtain customer preferences and assess marketing trends. May assist in preparing internal office financial plans and related records and reports, and may exercise authority on approved budget with higher-level supervisor approval. Assists in developing long range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives.
Assists the Marketing Director in the performance of supervisory duties which may include personnel selections, initiating personnel actions, performance appraisals, directing specific tasks and job assignments, and training. Serves as the primary point of contact, in the absence of the Marketing Director, for media and outside organizations. May be tasked to perform ancillary duties such as credit card holder or approving official (AO) for department purchases, timekeeping approver, representative on organization committees such as the Supervisors’ Safety Committee, department industrial hygiene representative, and employee accountability point of contact, et al.
Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action. Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs. Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EVALUATIONS:
Four years’ experience which demonstrates knowledge of market research, public relations, advertising and event coordination, web-based and social media strategies, and marketing in a high performing and challenging environment. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field is preferred. Knowledge of military structures, NAF policies and procedures highly preferred. Must have excellent communication skills and ability to make effective oral and electronic presentations to a mixed audience of military officers and civilian personnel. Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of a subordinate staff. Must have a basic understanding of accounting and procurement methods and procedures. This is a white collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required
