The Selective Service System is an independent agency whose mission is to (1) maintain a system that can promptly and efficiently furnish untrained manpower for induction into the Armed Forces during a national emergency and (2) provide an Alternative Service Program to men classified as conscientious objectors during a time of national emergency or draft.
This position is part of the National Headquarters Public and Intergovernmental Affairs (PIA) Directorate at the Selective Service System. PIA is responsible for internal and external communications with key emphasis on creating and promoting and registration awareness and informing the public. The Directorate also serves as liaison to state and local governments and manages records, publications, and forms management. Incumbent performs assignments to support effective communications between SSS and other government agencies, external partners and the general public. Incumbent develops and publishes a wide variety of graphic and video materials for advertising and social media outreach. Incumbent performs a variety of administrative and support functions to include preparation of correspondence and other materials, maintain files and historical records.
