Physical Demands/Work Environment:
The work is performed mostly outdoors in rugged terrain; to include very steep, wet, muddy, rough, uneven or rocky surfaces. The position requires physical exertion such as, but not limited to, driving over unpaved roads, walking over rough terrain or inclines, standing for long periods of time, bending, crouching and stooping, digging, hiking, lifting, biking, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Work may involve early morning hours, night hours, or daytime hours and may require working on holidays. It can require carrying heavy backpacks, tools, rescue equipment, or other loads. Most work will be performed out of doors, in all types of weather conditions, terrain, and elevations. Work may take place in extremely remote environment and may require primitive camping and living skills for upwards of two weeks in duration. Indoor duties are performed in a normal office setting.

This position serves as a Park Ranger with the Prineville District, Maupin Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management. The Park Ranger duties include providing orientation to the public about park programs, services and safety, conducting river patrols, operating watercraft to respond to emergency situtations including swift water rescue and administering first aid, planning daily activities for river recreation, developing plans for improvement of recreational projects, training candidates for volunteer programs.
Requirements:
GS-07: One year specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-05, or one full academic year of graduate education related to the occupation, or superior academic achievement
Qualifying on education: You will need to clearly state your undergraduate/graduate degree(s) and submit your college transcripts or a listing of your college courses that includes hours and grades.

4. Ability to provide clear information or data both orally and in writing, in order to provide advice and guidance to supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
5. Knowledge of techniques of resource protection and use, recreational use of Federal lands, enforcement of Federal regulations, and/or fire prevention techniques and fire suppression methods.
