NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s (GSFC) work in science, engineering, technology and communications strengthens our ability to envision the origins of life, preserve our way of living and define our place in the universe. We identify requirements and innovations; design, build and launch spacecraft; and manage and support entire space missions. Accounting Intern position duties:
You will assist in the preparation of, and perform first level analysis on, statements and reports; provide support on special audits and reviews data to determine reliability and the accuracy of accounting reports; perform initial analysis and reconciliation of integrated accounts for a variety of accounting data; assist in the identification and resolution of accounting transactions that create out-of-balances in the budgetary and proprietary accounts; and assist in administering and performing routine activities related to Standard General Ledger.
Liaison Specialist Intern position duties:
You will work with managers and staff to coordinate their service delivery in support of multi-organizational activities, develop and advise on requirements and needs for projects, and assist customers in the use of the online work ticketing system.
Contracting intern position duties:
You will work closely with program managers to purchase or contract for various items of property, services, supplies, equipment and other items. You will act as a business advisor to assist in planning for and acquiring the goods and services needed for the Center to accomplish their mission.
Resources Analyst Intern position duties:
You will identify relationships between projected program changes and the projected budget; forecast shortfalls and actions necessary to accommodate the changes; prepare special analyses of fund expenditures; assist in evaluating the effect of cost and program changes on the budget execution process; review and coordinate accounting records and prepares apportionments, allocations, and operating budgets; monitor, track, and report on program obligations; conduct annual year-end closing activities and reconcile with accounting records; analyze financial status reports for overall program status; prepare annual budget formulation documents, and ensure that all reconciliations are made as to workload data, accuracy, distribution of programs, etc.
Information Technology (CyberSecurity) intern:
Service Management: You will assist in the development of new Incident Response process flows, business and configuration management activities; assist in development and dissemination of communications directly with customers; and provide project support (such as coordinate meetings, agendas, and monthly status reports).
Cybersecurity Operations: You will assist in the response mechanism to contain, analyze and report on the number, source and nature of hostile probes coming from the networks, which includes the Internet;
Governance, Risk & Threat Management: Assist in the performance of annual security self-assessments of the systems and provide IT security support to business communication systems services.
Information Technology (Web Services and End User Services and Applications Portfolio) intern:
You will assist with updating agency applications; assist with agency software license management (working with customers to verify software inventory and licensing); support the transition to an new agency tools; serve as liaison for agency web services contract; solution; provide support on the generation of end user reports using the new agency; and liaison for agency web services contract.

Upon graduation, Accounting positions require the intern to have a degree in accounting or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance or public administration that includes or is supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting (may include 6 hours in business law) for conversion to permanent or term appointment.
Upon graduation, Contract Specialist positions require the intern to have a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major in any field, or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods or organization and management.
You must meet eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
