The White House Medical Unit, The White House, Washington, DC and provides direct support to the Deputy Director and Director. The primary mission of the White House Medical Unit is to provide comprehensive medical care and emergency response to the President, Vice President, and their families and to provide general medical support to the operation of the White House. The White House Medical Unit is equipped to respond rapidly to all types of medical events. This includes being able to deploy the medical team to locations throughout the world to conduct on-site analysis of medical contingency plans.
Washington Headquarters Services was established as a Department of Defense Field Activity on October 1, 1977, as part of a DoD headquarters streamlining initiative. Approximately 1,200 civilian and military employees as well as contract staff are organized into 12 directorates and offices. WHS personnel contribute to the mission of our Defense customers by managing DoD-wide programs and operations for the Pentagon Reservation and DoD leased facilities in the National Capital Region. WHS is organizationally aligned under the Director of Administration for the Office of the Deputy Chief Management Officer.

As a Health Systems Specialist, GS-0671-12/13, your typical work assignments may include the following:
- You may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance and must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Top Secret clearance must be adjudicated and granted prior to entry on duty date.
- Prior to reporting for duty, you must be approved for Presidential Support Duty (PSD) in accordance with Department of Defense Directive 5210.55 (PSD Category II, minimum).Prior to selection, you must be pre-screened for PSD suitability.
- You will participate in drug testing commensurate with DoD provisions and requirements for maintaining the security clearance and special access, and may be subject to national security or lifestyle polygraph examination, or other security surveillance methods.
