As an Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic, WG-6652-11, you will functionally test, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of specially instrumented, test, preproduction, standard and modified high performance, test modified, bomber munitions and aircraft systems, subsystems, and components to ensure serviceability, proper installation, and operation, using appropriate test equipment, special tools, technical data, diagrams, blueprints, etc. You will also:
-Perform required periodic, phased, minor, major, and special inspections, functional checks and modifications, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to the assigned Aircraft and Stores Management System (SMS) avionics and assigned Alternate mission Equipment (AME).
-Upload and download the complete Air Force inventory of B-1, B-2, and B-52 munitions, including items in development or undergoing system upgrades/redesign.
-Receive and inspects munitions upon delivery to aircraft for safety, serviceability and proper configuration for their intended use.
-Maintain aircraft munitions and maintenance records, including all standard records and records of modifications performed on assigned aircraft and equipment, following established procedures, technical data and directives.
-Perform ground handling and servicing of assigned aircraft, including the preflight, post flight, launch, recovery, refueling, towing, washing, lubricating, jacking, etc.
-Debrief air crews after flight to analyze comments concerning deficiencies in performance of SMS and installed air munitions as required.

1. May be required to work on day or night shift.
2. May be required to travel on temporary duty (TDY) by government of commercial aircraft, bus, rail, or automobile.
3. Subject to unscheduled recall, and to work uncommon tour of duty, overtime or nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
4. A secret security clearance and flight-line driver's license is required.
5. May be required to fill in for absent supervisor.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance as a condition of employment.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The mechanic makes repairs from work stands, and where parts worked on are in hard to reach places. This requires climbing, standing, stooping, bending, stretching and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The aircraft mechanic frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20lbs., and occasionally lifts and carries items that weigh up to 50lbs. Good distant vision and the ability to read printed material without strain, glasses are permitted and normal color vision. Incumbent must have the ability to hear normal conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid. Incumbents must possess emotional and mental stability.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to the hazards of : Desert weather conditions, high noise levels of operational jet engines, operation machinery and vehicles, falls and falling objects, toxic and corrosive chemicals, etc., inside and outside. Exposed to drafts, noise and fumes. Possible dermatitis from such fluids as oils or hydraulic fluids. Possibility of cuts, burns, shocks, and stains. To qualify for this position a specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act Chapter 21 of Title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.), Section 2108a, requires Federal agencies treat active duty service member as veterans, disabled veterans, and preference eligible, when they submit, at the time they apply for a Federal job, a certification of active service in lieu of a DD214, assuming the service member is otherwise eligible. A certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. The service member's military service dates are necessary in order to determine whether he or she meets the definition of "veteran" under 5 U.S.C. 2108(1). The "certification" must reflect the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions not later than 120 days after the date of submission. The certification must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin (if applicable), your rank, dates of active duty service, the type of discharge and character of service (i.e. honorable).
