The Associate Deputy Attorney General personally handles the most sensitive, precedent-setting litigative and administrative matters affecting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
Plans, coordinates, and oversees the execution of special projects involving the management of senior officials on behalf of the Deputy Attorney General; assignments involve coordination with the various DOJ bureaus and litigating divisions and Department leadership, including Assistant Attorneys General, Office of the Associate Attorney General, and Office of the Attorney General.
Has broad responsibilities for defining problems, opportunities, and issues; determines when and in what way issues should be brought to the attention of the Deputy Attorney General and makes appropriate recommendations.
Represents the Deputy Attorney General on communications with principal officials of the Department, staff members, and high-ranking officials of other departments and organizations, including but not limited to the White House and Congress.
Serves as key liaison and leadership official in the resolution of the most complex matters regarding DOJ bureaus.
Prepares written reports for the Deputy Attorney General; analyzes proposed and pending legislation or Department policies; makes recommendations to revise or oppose legislation and policy and assists in formulating the Deputy Attorney General's position.
Conducts oversight of Department Components and organizational units and serves as one of the most senior officials in the Office of the Deputy Attorney General.
You must be a graduate from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and be a member in good standing of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico bar.
