Duties
This Direct Hire recruitment is to fill positions based on a critical hiring need resulting from the outbreak and spread of the opioid crisis, which has caused a public health emergency. As such, all applicants who meet the public health competencies and the minimum specialized experience qualifications related to opioid addiction, prevention, and treatment service delivery will be referred to hiring managers for further consideration.
This position is a mission critical occupation and is responsible for analyzing public health programs, policies and procedures to ensure that Health Resources and Services Administration meets its mission, goals and objectives.
As a Public Health Analyst providing support for the opioid epidemic, you will perform analytical work contributing to planning, development, execution and improvement of national health programs in the field of opioid abuse treatment. Your responsibilities require a keen understanding of the interrelationships with opioid addiction, prevention, treatment and related public health organizations and stakeholders at the Federal, State, and local level.
Specifically, you will:
- Identify emerging health issues and developments in public health programs, especially in the substance abuse arena, including opioid use disorders.
- Utilize experience, judgment, and knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts and accepted practices related to treatment models to develop opioid treatment programs and ancillary services.
- Develop and implement strategies to disseminate knowledge obtained through program developments in order to advance program goals and objectives to meet public needs for opioid abuse treatment projects and related initiatives.
- Serve as a point of contact for information related to opioid program evaluation activities and in the measurement of program outcomes.
- Analyze and identify specific concerns or conditions of relevance and importance to the mission and activities of the organization.
- Monitor trends and encourages program approaches, using state-of-the-art and science innovation
- Represent and communicate the ideas and priorities of the organization pertaining to public health programs, including substance abuse and opioid treatment programs.
- Identify operational project needs and resolve issues in collaboration with the appropriate program officer or grant management and contract management official.
- Conduct site visits as required.
