Duties
This Direct Hire recruitment is to fill positions based on a critical hiring need resulting from the outbreak and spread of the opioid crisis, which has caused a public health emergency. As such, all applicants who meet the public health competencies and the minimum specialized experience qualifications related to opioid addiction, prevention, and treatment will be referred to hiring managers for further consideration.
This position is a mission critical occupation and is responsible for analyzing public health programs, policies and procedures to ensure that Health Resources and Services Administration meets its mission, goals and objectives.
As a Public Health Analyst providing support for the opioid epidemic, you will perform analytical work contributing to the improvement of Federal public health programs in the field of opioid abuse treatment. Your responsibilities require an understanding of the interrelationships with opioid addiction, prevention, treatment and related public health organizations and stakeholders at the Federal, State, and local level.
Specifically, you will,
- Participate in developing strategies in order to advance program goals and objectives to meet public needs for opioid abuse treatment projects and related initiatives.
- Participate in facilitating interactions between various Federal, State organizations and HRSA program managers to identify issues or problems and to share project developments.
- Assist in program evaluation and in the measurement of program outcomes.
- Analyze and identify specific concerns or conditions of relevance and importance to the mission and activities of the organization.
- Monitor trends and encourages program approaches, using state-of-the-art and science innovations.
- Participate in providing guidance to State agencies and State organizations, advocacy organizations, providers, private companies, non-profit agencies, local government agencies, and others involved in resolving matters regarding opioid abuse treatment.
- Maintain contacts and coordinates with Federal agencies, private and public organizations to provide advice, and to exchange information.
- Conduct site visits as required.

Federal Office of Rural Health Policy - FORHP promotes better health care service in rural America. Maternal and Child Health Bureau - MCHB administers the Maternal and Child Health Block Grant to States and discretionary grants that ensure that the Nation's women, infants, children, adolescents, and their families, including fathers and children with special health care needs, have access to quality health care.

Basic Requirements for all Public Health Program Specialist Series, 0685 positions require that you demonstrate specialized experience in each of the following five competencies:
