• Operates a field type tractor and attached or towed mower or cutter bar or similar type attachments.
• Maneuvers the tractor and equipment in confined areas such as between shrubs and trees and along fences and curbs.
• Performs adjustments and minor maintenance on equipment operated.
• Responsible operating of tractors and mowing equipment in a safe manner at the work site and while on public roads.
• Perform safety inspections of vehicles, tractors or attachments.

Conditions of employment

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A pre-employment physical is required.
• This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
• Required to observe established safe working procedures; and, wear appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions.
• Must be able to lift approximately 100 pounds.
• This is a seasonal position. Seasonal employment means annually recurring periods of work that typically last six months each year, but may vary depending upon the needs of management.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Tractor Operator~ without more than normal supervision. Experience operating tractor equipment, attachments and vehicles up to 5-tons and performing maintenance and safety checks under close supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

• Physical Efforts: The employee works in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. The work requires frequent bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. The employee frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds or puts forth similar strenuous effort while standing, lying, or sitting. The employee often lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of others or lifting devices.
• Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside. Inside work is in a well-lighted, heated, and vented garage building. Outside work may be performed adjacent to the garage building or in the field. Field assignments involve exposure to temperature extremes common to the normal construction season, and to generally unfavorable working conditions inasmuch as most heavy equipment repair in the field is in connection with ditching, levee building, etc. The nature of the work is dirty, greasy, and noisy. The use of hand tools in cramped areas and while in awkward body positions (bending, prone, or reaching) subjects the worker to possible cuts and bruises to hands and arms. There is limited exposure to drowning from falls over the side of boats or from accidents while underway.
